Vandaag zou hij snel zijn smartphone pakken om een routebeschrijving op te vragen. Dit is te danken aan de snelle ontwikkeling op het gebied van geografische informatietechnologieën (GEO). Summary: Description: GEO beroepen omvatten disciplines voor het verzamelen, opslaan, verwerken, afleveren en het omzetten van gegevens naar informatie.de belangstelling voor goed opgeleide studenten groeit op alle niveaus MBO, HBO, WO - op het gebied van geografische informatievoorziening. De arbeidsmarkt heeft veel vacatures op dit gebied maar het onderwijs kan niet aan die vraag beantwoorden. is sinds 2008 bezig deze mismatch aan te pakken, wat leidde tot de oprichting van de Stichting Arbeidsmarkt GEO (SAGEO). Deze stichting levert een bijdrage aan het GEOonderwijs. De aanpak is gebaseerd op drie pijlers: vernieuwing van het onderwijs, werving van jongeren voor het GEO-vak en bevorderen van dit samenwerking tussen onderwijs en werkgevers. Deze kwestie is niet alleen een s probleem, heel Europa is ermee bezig. is wel een van de eerste landen die hier iets mee deed en nu is SAGEO populair. Landen willen meer weten over hoe SAGEO is ontstaan en ook leren van haar success en fouten. SAGEO gaat on the road. België, Bulgarije, Litouwen. Het Europese Commissieproject onder het Leonardo da Vinciprogramma gaat 1 oktober 2013 van start en zal de volgende doelstellingen uitvoeren: 1. het vaststellen per land van het optimale samenwerkingsmodel, rekening houdend met verschillende culturen. 2. het vaststellen van de optimale manier om studenten bekend te maken met en te interesseren voor de GEO studies. 3. er zo goed mogelijk voor zorgen dat vraag en aanbod met elkaar in evenwicht 2

8 Events Geo Skills Plus Workshop I Date Description The Geo Skills Plus project started in October 2013 and this first workshop will be used as a platform to present the project s overall goals and discuss results to date. Many Member States of the European Union are struggling with challenges of linking geospatial Vocational Education and Training (VET) to labour market needs. This project will focus primarily on four countries: Belgium, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Netherlands. The 2-year project aims to help provide an infrastructure to improve cooperation between vocational education and training and the world of work. This will enhance employability and participation in the geospatial labour market. The following work packages were defined to support these aims. Bridging the Gap What are the challenges in these countries to meet the needs of the labour market? Raising Awareness What has been done so far in these European countries? Cooperation Model Who are the key players that need to take responsibility in order to improve the geospatial labour market?
